Advanced SNPs for Cooley Group CF02

Here's my handy-dandy method for keeping track of the ongoing advanced SNP testing for group CF02 of the Cooley DNA Project. This article will be updated whenever there's new data. It can be referenced from the menu on the left of Gen-Gen's main page. See article 39 for more information.

The test kits referred to are from Family Tree DNA. "EKA" means Earliest Known Ancestor. Individual SNPs can be ordered from FTDNA for $39 and from Yseq for $18 each. Testers should already match the CF02 STR profile or know that they're positive for the parent SNP, A12020, before testing any of these SNPs. If in doubt, please check with me.

NOTES

• All descendants of Benjamin will have the "Benjamin" SNPs. However, their presence should not be considered proof of descent, but rather evidence of descent. It's possible that descendants of his brothers or first cousins might also have these markers. This is because we know only that the two SNPs were present at Benjamin's birth. They could have come into the lineage at any previous generation after the unknown MRCA.
• It's not proved that the "Nehemiah" SNPs came down to the tester directly from Nehemiah. So far as we know, they came into the lineage at a subsequent paternal generation down to the tester's owen birth. Another known descendant from a different son of Nehemiah's will need to test to know whether these SNPs are pre- or post-Nehemiah.
• The founder of the "Goshen" SNPs is not yet known. Samuell Coley has been disproved as a contender.
• The final SNP analysis for Samuell is yet to be complete. There are at least three more suspect SNPs, FT133113, FT132779, and FT132510, but only FT122534 can be Sanger tested at YSEQ.net. A Big Y at FTDNA would be required for the others.
